May 14th, 2010: Syttende Mai, Hayward.
The Sons of Norway chapter in Hayward has invited us to a Friday evening event called Syttende Mai. It's a very appreciative and welcoming group; this will be our second opportunity to join in their celebration. We'll put on The Viking Art of War and display our arts, crafts and weaponry, then join in the potluck dinner. This is inside their meeting hall, so neither shade nor tents need be erected.
Here's a
request from Irene Jordahl, our hostess: "One thing people
mentioned that they would be interested in hearing about is the
connection of the Vikings to the Scots and the Irish. Can you
include some of that information in more detail?" We'll
discuss how to best respond to her request.
