January 21 & 22, 2013: Viking Class at St. Mary's College in Moraga, California

Bjornstad has been invited to provide a class on the Vikings as part of a course on Barbarian cultures presented by Professor Costanza Dopfel at St. Mary's College at 1928 Saint Mary’s Road, Moraga, California 94556.

The class runs from 12:00 Noon until 2:30 PM on the 21st and 22nd of January, 2013.  We'll present our PowerPoint presentation, insert the Viking Art of War into it, and lay out our weaponry and artifact exhibit.  Weather permitting, we'll move outside for the combat portion of our presentation. The second day of our presentation will be devoted to hands-on student involvement as they move from one station to another.  The stations will cover topics like textiles, chain mail construction, runes and more.

Professor Dopfel has asked us to focus on the day-to-day life of those in the Viking Age, recognizing that her class is primarily made up of college freshmen.

We'll meet at 10:00 AM at the rear of De La Salle Hall, where the seminar will be held, to unload our gear and get set up.  We'll set up our Viking A-frame tent in the classroom itself.
