The Castello di Amorosa winery in Calistoga has invited us to help entertain their guests at their annual Midsummer Medieval Festival. We'll dress in 12-13th century gear. We'll set up an archery area, a sword combat area and our trebuchet above the lake. Bring banners and shields to add to the color of our Medieval-themed lake-front activities.

We will set up most of our equipment (pavilion, archery targets, pell, trebuchet, dragon target) at noon on Friday, then arrive a couple of hours before the festival starts on Saturday to put on our personal gear. Use the labeled map below for directions. Drive into the main parking area then head to the far left (SW) corner and take the narrow lake access road. If you have gear to unload, take the gravel-ish road, keeping the lake to your immediate left. If you only have personal gear you can carry, take the paved road to the right heading uphill and park in the general area of the water tower. From the parking area, you can walk down the steep slope to the lake area or walk back toward the castle and walk around to the gravel road.

We'll essentially be done with our portion of the entertainment/education when the guests' dinner starts. We'll dine on the same food as the guests in a separate room.

Our Medieval fun area will be on the lake's southwest shore, at the lower left in the image below.
